April Ross

April Ross has won more than one medal at the Olympics. She is among only a handful of women beach volleyball athletes that have done so. Alix Klineman, playing for the first time at the Tokyo Olympics is hoping to secure her third medal. Ross is also hoping to win her very first Olympic gold. There is a chance that this is her only chance at winning, as she's 39 old. She remains optimistic that she will be able to win top awards. Ross told NBC Boston that if they perform at their very best, and even play well her team will be able to win the gold medal. In addition, I'm planning to rely on a bit of good luck. Ross, who was born 1982, and grew up in Costa Mesa California with her siblings and parents, started participating in sports at Newport Harbor High school. Ross was a competitive athlete in a variety of sports while attending Newport Harbor High School. In her time as a college athlete she played indoor track and volleyball. However she was clearly superior to the rest in this latter game. In her own biography her high school days, she played volleyball as an outside hitter (middle blocker) and the setter (outside blocker). Gatorade Circle Of Champions named her as the National Player 1999. The 2000 Orange County Athlete of the Month award was also won by her in volleyball. Ross has been playing with Klineman since 2017. However, Ross's beach game was well-established long before the year. She has won major competitions with different players. One of them is an icon of the world of volleyball. In the period 2007-2013 she played with Jennifer Kessy who more recently served as her and Klineman's coach. Kessy was Ross's teammate at the World Championships of 2009. They won a Silver Medal during the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. They were beaten out for the gold by the legendary team of Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Jennings became Walsh Jennings partner in fate after Maytreanor's retirement. They both went on to take home the bronze medal in beach volleyball at the Rio Olympics in 2016 along with Walsh Jennings. Ross was a college athlete with the Trojans of USC prior to the start of her professional career. She played during high school and in before hitting the beach as a professional. Ross's Trojans experience was remarkable. As a freshmen in 2000, her play earned her the Pac-10 and NCAA Young Player of the Year awards. She was also one of the key players in helping the Trojans reach it to the Final Four. The Trojans suffered a significant personal defeat in her sophomore year but was still successful in achieving the All-American distinction. Through her two final years in the Trojans program, she guided the team to win a national championship every year. Her individual achievements have cemented her as a volleyball legend. She was awarded the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the best female college player. Ross was a major in international relations at USC. Margie Ross did not see her daughter reach the top of beach volleyball. Ross's mother passed away from cancer of the breast when she was a sophomore at USC. But, she will always keep her mother's memory close and close. And Margie remains a source of motivation for her at the beach and in her daily life.
