Anna Paquin was born in Winnipeg and raised in the city of Wellington. She made her acting debut as Flora McGrath, a character in the romantic drama film"The Piano. Paquin had a small part in the role of Jane Eyre's title character while she was just a young girl on Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre (1996) as well as played the lead role in the film Fly Away Home (1996). Paquin played Frankie Addams in a 1997 TV movie adaptation of Carson McCullers's novel The Member of the Wedding and had a minor role in the role of Queen Spain in Steven Spielberg's Amistad (1997). She played teenage characters in of Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000), A Walk on the Moon (2000) as well as in the role of the polexia Aphrodisa groupie in Almost Famous (2000).
